Upwork recently added new skills to the list of those eligible for Upwork Skill Certifications. We've added the whole list on the images for you.

Are you wondering what Upwork Skill Certifications is?

In the past, Upwork used to have tests for freelancers to prove they know what they are doing, so that clients can assess their competence better. Now, they've created a more thorough certification procedure for 2 categories: Web & Mobile Software Development & Design & Creative.

What does this mean for the clients?

Most clients, especially with little experience of working with freelancers, want to have some credibility. They want to know that the person they hire has all the skills and qualifications that they claim and will be able to perform the job well.

Now you can have additional confidence when hiring on Upwork with the Upwork Skills Certification Badge. You can find it the certifications area of the freelancer profile.

What does this mean for the freelancers? (sorry, independent professionals)

This initiative is supposed to help expert talents stand out on Upwork.

If you receive an invite to go through the certification (and this is invite-only), you will need to dedicate at least a couple of hours to this task. Developers will need to achieve a passing score on two timed and proctored coding tests. Design & Creative professionals will have to create a portfolio that passes evaluation by a panel of third-party domain experts. There is Upwork webinar with guidelines if you want to do it right.

By the way, if you try and don't pass, there is no penalty or no sign in your portfolio. So, if you have an invite, we suggest to go ahead and try.
